About René Beaupoil
I am a longtime enthusiastic amateur. I started out with film and slides at an early age. I developed black and white, but never ventured into developing colour film.
My first camera a Praktica was given to me by my father. I replaced it with a Nikon F301 when I was an editor for a computer magazine in Germany.
In 1996 I bought the first Canon digital camera a PowerShot 600 (832 x 608 pixels = 0.5 megapixels). It was followed by a PowerShot A20 with a whooping 2.1 megapixels, which was actually quite a nice camera to shoot with. It had autofocus!
My first digital Nikon was a D40 with 6 megapixels was quite a step up. It died after someone poured orange juice over it.
I found the learning curve of the D7000, I got as a replacement, fairly steep. But with it 16 megapixels and prosumer functions allowed me to advance.
5 years ago I got my mirrorless Nikon Z6 which I really love. It not only offers all I need and more, but it is an absolute joy to use.
